Carl Craig at Cité de la Musique, Paris, France. Can’t believe it took me months to get round to watching this. Some wonderful tracks beautifully reinterpreted.
Jeff Mills & The Montpellier Philharmonic Orchestra had been getting plenty of play time for a while. Nice high quality presentation on YouTube. It almost makes hearing The Bells tolerable again.

I think Carl Craig’s music translates much better into a classical orchestration. You really can’t get much better than hearing At Les or Desire, those tracks very can be very easily transitioned to a classical arrangement.
But I can’t say much for Mills effort, I really thought this was really, really weak and uninspiring. His music is too (hate to say it) minimal to translate into anything meaningful for an orchestra. I mean, half of the orchestra are bored shitless! The only semi decent track would be his version of Amazon, and he can thank Mr. Banks for giving the original track enough depth to make it sound good in this environ.
I can’t let Mills take all the blame though, Carl and orchestra murdered Domina… sad.
Agree Carl’s tracks definitely work better. The 808 Mills was working seems really out of place at times. Ha ha they do look a bit bored, look at the size of the Montpellier Orchestra too!
